Dr. Kimberly Mason is a licensed professional counselor, counselor educator, prevention specialist, and educational/organizational consultant who specializes in the areas of bullying, cyberbullying, suicide, adolescents’ use of social media, conflict resolution, restorative justice practices, and Internet safety.
She holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision and M.Ed. in Community Agency Counseling from the University of New Orleans (CACREP-Accredited). Since 2003, Dr. Mason has been a counselor educator and supervisor instructing master’s school and mental health courses, supervised school, mental health, and doctoral counseling interns, supervised doctoral students teaching practicum in counselor education and supervision, advised master’s and doctoral students, served on counseling doctoral dissertation committees as a chair, co-chair, methodologist, and committee member, and chaired master’s level theses and project committees. She also has nine years of experience serving as the Coordinator of Practicum and Internship in Counseling, and has experience developing and revising course curriculums.
Through her work as a mental health, substance abuse, and school counselor since 1997, Dr. Mason has extensive experience working with diverse populations ranging from young children through the elderly on a multitude of mental health issues. She is the author of “Bullying No More: Understanding and Preventing Bullying” published by Barron’s Educational Series, Inc., and serves as a consultant for several school districts, law enforcement agencies, community mental health centers, government agencies, and businesses.
She is a published scholar and frequent presenter of seminars and workshops on issues of bullying, cyberbullying, Internet safety, and restorative justice practices across the United States. Dr. Mason is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Nationally Certified Counselor, certified in iSafe and NetSmartz Internet Safety, School Conflict Management, Conflict Mediation, Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS), and Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Trained.
